Freedom Flyer

My wife and I used to live in Indianola, Iowa where every year they hold the National Balloon Classic. One of the best parts for us was when the balloons would fly very low directly over the town. We would walk out into our yard and watch them float overheard as the people would wave to you and sometimes throw down candy. Even though I am not a big fan of heights and would never get into a hot air balloon there is something very magically about seeing them. To me they are like pieces of art floating in the sky. Night Flight

  Just like my artwork “Freedom Flyer” I wanted to play on an Independence Day theme as well as my experiences living in Indianola, Iowa where they hold the National Balloon Classic each year. One of the Classics events is a night glow where all of the balloons are tethered in the field and they light up the balloons. People can walk around them and view the lit up balloons against the night sky. That is the type of look I wanted to go for in this scene.
