My wife and I used to live in Indianola, Iowa where every year they hold the National Balloon Classic. One of the best parts for us was when the balloons would fly very low directly over the town. We would walk out into our yard and watch them float overheard as the people would wave to you and sometimes throw down candy. Even though I am not a big fan of heights and would never get into a hot air balloon there is something very magically about seeing them. To me they are like pieces of art floating in the sky. All of the different shapes, patterns, and colors are neat to see. This art piece was my reflection on those times and since it was around the 4th of July when I came up with the idea I incorporated that Americana look for the front balloons pattern. If you ever get a chance to attend the National Balloon Classic or visit Indianola during that time I strongly recommend it.
