Just like my artwork “Freedom Flyer” I wanted to play on an Independence Day theme as well as my experiences living in Indianola, Iowa where they hold the National Balloon Classic each year. One of the Classics events is a night glow where all of the balloons are tethered in the field and they light up the balloons. People can walk around them and view the lit up balloons against the night sky. That is the type of look I wanted to go for in this scene. The warm glow of the flame inside lighting up the colors and patterns. As well as the mirrored type composition with the balloons reflecting on the water. I wanted to keep the exact same layout as “Freedom Flyer” to sort of make it a twin piece.
